Every yoga teacher should have a digital presence. But where should you start?

Are you a passionate yoga teacher, pouring your heart into every class, whether it’s in your cozy home studio, a local community center, or a bustling studio in town. Do you deeply care about your students’ well-being, crafting holistic experiences that nurture their mind, body, and soul?

But keeping your classes full? That’s a challenge these days, (believe me, I totally get it), especially with all the free online yoga now available.

Perhaps you’ve been thinking about growing your online presence to share your unique teaching style, offer special extras like workshops or digital handouts, or maybe even create an online course one day…all while staying true to your wellness values?

It all sounds amazing…until it’s time to actually take some action. And where the heck do you start?

Well, I am a yoga teacher too, so I know how overwhelming it can feel to juggle teaching and online marketing. Or even where to get started.

Some of my most successful offerings (wellness challenges, e-books, guides, mini-courses) have been through social media and my website.

However…it took me a LONG time to get where I am now.

MY BIGGEST MISTAKE: Trying to be all the things to everyone. I wanted to reach everyone with all my expertises and education.

I am going to help you NOT do that today!!

And that’s why I created this worksheet to help you really get clear on where to start when it comes to clear, consistent messaging on social media. Download and print it off!!

Clarity & Action worksheet for yoga teachers working on growing their presence online.

This worksheet is designed to help you gain clarity, identify your audience, and take actionable steps toward building an online presence (and then in turn funnel those followers to your online offerings) that reflects your authentic self.

You can print it, for free!

Once you’ve narrowed down your niche, be sure to print off my whole 47 page social media planner as well, (yes, it’s free too).

A simple social media calendar can save you time, bring clarity, and help you grow your audience (both in-person and online) without losing your focus.

WHY A SOCIAL MEDIA CALENDAR IS YOUR SECRET WEAPON

As a yoga teacher, you want to connect authentically with your students, but random social media posting eats up time and often causes you to feel scattered, (not to mention the fact it feels no one sees or comments on your posts).

A social media calendar will help you stay organized, build consistency, and attract students who love your approach, your messaging, whether they’re joining your in-person classes or discovering you online. It’s the first step to growing your audience and eventually funneling them to a space, (like your website or email list) that you own, and have full control over.

Here are some of my quick tips for getting started on social media.

Step 1: Choose 1-2 social media platforms (quality over quantity).

You don’t need to be on every platform. Instagram, Pinterest, TikTok…that’s a fast track to overwhelm. Focus on one where your students are. Instagram is perfect for sharing your teaching vibe through Reels, Stories and inspirational quotes. Pinterest is a goldmine for driving traffic to your class schedules, online yoga classes or future digital products, thanks to its evergreen search power.

Pro Tip: Pinterest is ideal for yoga teachers! Yoga lovers searching for “yoga flows” or “wellness tips” can find your pins and book your classes.

Step 2: Plan posts around meaningful days (in my planner, I share a whole year of fun days related to yoga and wellness).

Tap into special days like World Yoga Day or National Wellness Day to create posts that resonate with your audience. These keep your content fresh and relevant, drawing in students who value wellness. For example, on World Mental Health Day, share a Reel of a grounding meditation or restorative flow.

Content Idea: For World Kindness Day (November 19), share the day with a quote on kindness and then add a call to action that prompts your audience to ask for your “Acts of Kindness Challenge” sheet.

Step 3: Batch Your content for “easebatching” saves your sanity. Set aside one hour a week to create multiple posts. Try these:

  • Film a 15-second Reel of a gentle yoga flow for stress relief.

  • Share a photo of your home studio with a caption about why you love teaching.

  • Write a tip for modifying a pose like Warrior II to suit all levels.

Create 3-5 posts at once, and you’re done for the week. Use Canva for beautiful graphics, (no tech skills needed).

Step 4: Automate with Scheduling Tools

Use tools like Later, Planoly, or Tailwind (great for Pinterest) to schedule your posts in advance. From Facebook, you can also schedule through Meta Business Suite, (for Facebook & Instagram). Upload your content, set dates, and let the tool do the work. This gives you time to focus on teaching or planning those special in-person extras, like workshops or retreats. Most tools have free plans perfect for yoga teachers.

Pro Tip: Post when your audience is active (e.g., mornings for yoga lovers). Check platform analytics to find the best times.

Step 5: Repurpose to reach more students

Make your content work harder by repurposing it. Turn an Instagram Reel of a yoga flow into a Pinterest pin linking to your class schedule. Or share a blog post about holistic wellness (like the ones on my website) as an Instagram carousel. This saves time and grows your reach, both locally and online.

Example: Film a Reel of a morning yoga sequence. Post it on Instagram, then create a Pinterest pin with text: “Start your day with this mindful, morning yoga flow!
