How to care for your candle
-
Wax has memory. The very first time you light your candle, allow it to burn continuously until the melted wax pool reaches every edge of the concrete vessel, (typically 2 to 3 hours).
Because hand-poured concrete naturally retains and radiates heat a touch more than thin glass or tin, it facilitates a remarkably clean, even melt pool. Giving it enough time on that initial light prevents tunneling, ensuring you get the maximum burn time out of every ounce of wax.

Keeping your wick short is the single most effective way to eliminate soot, prevent high flames, and extend your candle's lifespan. Trim before every single burn.
Cotton Wicks: Trim the wick to 1/4 inch before relighting. If a carbon mushroom forms at the tip during burning, extinguish the flame, let the wax cool, and trim the tip off to keep the flame steady and soot-free.
Wood Wicks: Wood wicks pull wax best from clean, short wood. Before lighting, gently snap off the charred, blackened wood from the previous burn using a tissue and your fingertips or a wick trimmer, leaving the wick at roughly 1/8 to 3/16 inch. Avoid trimming too low, or the flame may struggle to catch.
-
Know when to say goodbye to the flame to protect both your surfaces and the vessel. Stop burning your candle when approximately 1/2 inch of wax remains at the bottom. Burning past this point can cause the vessel to overheat or scorch surfaces.
Your concrete vessel is designed to live on well past the wax:
Once the remaining wax cools, you can usually wipe out with a paper towel and then wash out with soapy water, (each vessel has been sealed with an Earth Safe sealant and will repel water for years to come).
Let it dry and repurpose around the home.
Refills for the Petite and Pedestal vessels are available.

Concrete is a dense, porous stone medium. It absorbs and holds warmth throughout the burn, which means the exterior of the vessel will naturally feel warmer to the touch than glass or metal containers.
Cap at 4 Hours: Limit each burn session to a maximum of 3 to 4 hours. Extended burns can overheat the concrete and cause the fragrance oils to burn off too quickly.
Surface Protection: Always place your concrete candle on a stable, flat, heat-resistant surface away from drafts, vents, or ceiling fans.
Safe Distances: Keep away from curtains, loose papers, children, and pets. Never leave a burning candle unattended, and allow the vessel to cool completely before moving it.
LIGHT A CANDLE.
(and actually pause)
Not just for the smell, let it be a reminder to slow down for a moment.
